Acupuncture

Acupuncture is a Traditional Chinese medicine that originated in China over 5000 years ago. It is based on belief that living beings have a vital energy called Chi, that circulates through the meridians or channels or energy. Acupuncture has been used to treat a variety of health conditions by working on balancing the meridians and energy flow. Treatments can include traditional needles or laser light therapy, cupping, Guasha, and Tuina (oriental massage).

The National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health (NCCIH) has evaluated many published studies related to acupuncture for pain management. While the evidence supports acupuncture supporting pain management for certain conditions, more research is needed to fully understand the health implications of acupuncture for other conditions. The NCCIH has concluded however that acupuncture is considered safe when practiced by a trained professional.
