Third European IPT Training Workshop

Munich Workshop Participants

IPT Training Workshop

Dr. Donato Garcia Perez recently returned from an IPT training workshop he conducted in Munich, Germany . This is the third such workshop he has organized and he was most satisfied with how it went.

IPT in Russia and Bulgaria

Dr.Christo Damyanov, an oncologist and urologist from Sophia, Bulgaria , learned of IPT through the internet. Pleased with his patients' response to the treatment, he wishes to pursue research using IPT in Bulgaria .

Also of particular interest, Dra. Bimurzayeva Marina of Russia will be practicing IPT in that country. Both she and Russian medical authorities are very much interested in developing IPT in Russia .

Practice of IPT Legally Validated in Europe

Dr. Thomas Kroiss

Dr. Thomas Kroiss, integrative medicine physician in Austria , was brought to trial earlier this year in his country. He was accused of putting cancer patients at undue risk by practicing IPT.

Evidence submitted by both sides was reviewed by a judge on May 12 and Dr. Kroiss was acquitted on all counts. In the words of Dr. Kroiss, "Not even the hostile oncology-expert could avert this." This landmark legal decision does much to validate the use of IPT in Europe and the rest of the world.

Much thanks to Dr. Kroiss and acknowledgement for his courage and steadfastness in defending himself and his actions. Below is a link to the letter, written by Dr. Ayre, that was submitted to the judge in defense of Dr. Kroiss.

Annual IPT Conference in Atlanta

Hilton Atlanta Airport

The Annual IPT Conference is being held at the Hilton Atlanta Airport from October 19-22.

Drs. Steven G. Ayre and Donato Perez Garcia, amongst others, will be speaking to update their colleagues of the exciting developments occurring to improve cancer care. An IPT training session will follow for practitioners wanting to provide this highly desirable treatment to their patients.

Chemotherapy in the Care of Cancer

Side-Effects of Chemotherapy

While chemotherapy significantly reduces cancerous tumors, it also inflicts a whole host of intolerable and sometimes fatal side-effects upon the individual being treated. Nerve damage, hair loss, nausea, mouth sores, and reproductive organ damage are all a result of the high doses of cytotoxic drugs administered to cancer patients. Furthermore, low blood counts lead to fatigue, uncontrollable bleeding, and infections. Cancer patients don't always die from cancer; sometimes they die from the treatment.

Drawbacks of Side-Effects

Chemotherapeutic side effects can lead to disruption and even discontinuation of treatment. And in the case of elderly or infirm individuals with cancer, high dose chemotherapy is not even a valid option. Despite these considerations, chemotherapy is a mainstay of cancer care and is likely to be around for many years to come.

Kinder, Gentler Chemotherapy

Fortunately, a technology exists that makes this cancer care mainstay more palatable to patients and practitioners. IPT allows practitioners to administer chemotherapy in greatly reduced doses while maintaining the tumor reducing effectiveness of the drugs. The reduced doses administered with IPT greatly improve the side-effect profile of the treatment, making IPT a highly desirable cancer management strategy to both practitioners and cancer patients.

Role of Clinical Research

Countless times in clinical settings, IPT has proven to be effective in reducing tumors while avoiding the side-effects of high dose chemotherapy. However, for a treatment to be fully embraced by the established medical community (and insurance providers) the treatment must be proven efficacious in a research setting. And medical research requires significant resources in the form of time and funding.

Funding Studies

The Elka Best Foundation exists to provide the organization and support for medical research using IPT. Grant applications have been submitted to the Dr. Scholl Foundation and the Retirement Research Foundation. Additional applications are pending for the Grant Healthcare Foundation, The Blowitz- Ridgeway Foundation, and The Washington Square Health Foundation. Any IPT Practitioners interested in organizing or participating in a clinical trial should contact The Elka Best Foundation.
