Steven G. Ayre, M.D.

Steven G. Ayre has been practicing medicine since 1972 after obtaining his BA in Philosophy and Mathematics from McGill University in 1966. He graduated from the University of Ottawa Medical School in 1971 and completed a rotating internship at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Montreal. Next, he joined his father, William Burton Ayre, M.D. at the private family practice, Ayre Medical Clinic, located in the Town of Mount Royal, a suburb of Montreal.

Curriculum Vitae

Following his father's innovative inclination towards the use of high dose vitamin therapy in the treatment of behavioral disorders, Dr. Ayre became the Medical Director of the Montreal Association of Children with Learning Disabilities. This interest in mega-vitamin therapy opened the way for his involvement in the growing field of alternative medical practices.

In 1975, Dr. Ayre first became acquainted with the procedure later named Insulin Potentiation Therapy (IPT). He met at that time with Dr. Donato Perez Garcia of Mexico City whose father - Dr. Donato Perez Garcia, Sr.  had originated the Cellular Therapy to Change the Biophysical Biochemical Constants of the Blood. The stories Dr. Ayre heard from Dr. Perez about cancer treatment using his father's therapy, coupled with his own professional frustration with the suffering associated with cancer treatment led him to embrace this unique idea and develop it scientifically.

For the past 30 years, Dr. Ayre has dedicated his medical career to the scientific development of this innovative cancer treatment, which in 1986 he came to call Insulin Potentiation Therapy (IPT).

Dr. Ayre has published five papers in peer reviewed medical literature on this subject (see Documentation) and has made scientific presentations on the treatment at major national and international scientific conferences. Dr Ayre established Contemporary Medicine in 1999 and has since treated over 200 cancer patients with IPT.

His efforts in this area have earned him recognition from the National Institutes of Health, National Cancer Institute, Office of Cancer Complementary and Alternative Medicine (OCCAM). In December 2005, the Director of OCCAM, Dr. Jeffrey White, announced a Request For Proposal on alternative cancer treatment and Dr. Ayre was invited to respond because of his dedicated involvement with IPT.

My Philosophy of Practice
I believe in the principle of biochemical individuality, which requires different approaches with each person. As a result, I utilize blood type and body type principles as well as lab work (ask for details) to arrive at an understanding of your needs. Cancer and cancer treatments present other unique challenges which I also take into consideration.

I specialize in reducing cravings for junk food, improving mood, energy, sleep, and digestive disorders. I offer ideas for those with high levels of stress, as well as tips on how to eat more healthily in today's fast-paced society. My goal is to work with you to discover simple, yet achievable options to maximize your success.

The First Consultation

The first visit begins with an overview of a symptom and diet survey form (which is provided by the staff to take home and fill out). We then go over the report and evaluate how well your body is functioning, which foods to eat and avoid, and recommendations for supplements tailored to your needs. A basic detoxification program may also be encouraged. These recommendations will help balance your system for maximum energy and immune strength.

Fee Schedule

The first 90 minute appointment is $150. Subsequent visits are $100 for a 60 minute follow-up. There is no insurance billing done, but a receipt will be provided, upon request, if you wish to attempt reimbursement.

For an appointment, call the office or contact Jim directly at 630-531-7346.
